During the workshops, we will hear and tell a number of Secwepemc stories and learn about the traditional laws they communicate.

Instructors Dr. Marianne Ignace and Kukpi7 Dr. Ron Ignace will show how stories contain messages, metaphors, word-play that connect to traditional laws (stsq’ey’) of the Secwepemc, which have important messages for present and future Secwepemc institutions (child and family welfare, criminal justice issues, land and environment, relations between communities and nations).

The goal behind offering the course in different locations is to promote unity and sharing among communities and bring people together in a way that supports and demonstrates what we will be learning about through the instruction itself.

This event is FREE to attend!
