Governance

The Governance Department provides technical support to our Council of Chiefs through a variety of research, policy and legislative analysis, and nation-building initiatives.

The Governance Department encourages and facilitates coordinated approaches and information sharing between Secwepemc communities believing that information dissemination ensures continuous dialogue thus promoting unity in the Secwepemc Nation.

The Governance Department promotes the reestablishment of traditional Secwepemc laws and governance processes across the nation and acts as overall knowledge keepers and technical advisors for matters related to rights and title.

“So long as what we consider justice is withheld from us, so long will dissatisfaction and unrest exist among us, and we will continue to struggle to better ourselves.”
